Xoxo

Anyone who knows me, know that I am a huge fan of bubble necklaces. Guess what ... this layout is inspired by my bubble necklace. It all started when I was nursing Katelynn. Oh well, I couldn't do anything else except to think! So the minute she is done and fell asleep, I immediately grabbed all the supplies. I just couldn't resist Crate Paper's Fourteen collection so I created another layout with it! Creating with one collection really helps me alot especially when I have super-limited time!

The round beads on the bubble necklace reminded me of my circle punches. So I took 3 different circle punches and got them to work. Once done, I just randomly arrange them to suit my style and I loved it!

Here are the close-ups...

I scrapped!!

To be able to scrap these days, it is as if I won myself a pot of gold! Lol. Today I was determined to scrap! Let's say Miss Katelynn 'allowed' two slots of 45 mins of nap for her mummy to scrap. I was delighted. I had to put a HUGE stop whenever she is awake. It was a marathon BUT a good one for the soul. A short me-time will certainly keep me sane!

I always adore collections from Crate Paper and decided to play with Fourteen. The whole collection was meant for Valentine's Day but I decided to use them on everyday theme.

Here's a layout of me, Katelynn and Iris Babao Uy. We were so happy when she came by our house last April. She was in Malaysia to teach workshops and she took the time to come by to say hi. She is the sweetest!

This is a layout featuring our super chatty daughter! She looks to talk & say hello to us whenever she is awake! We just adore this lil human. We are blessed!

Alright, got to go. Mummy's duty is ON again! Thanks for coming by. Till then, have a lovely week. Take care.

Uppercase Magazine

I recently discovered this Uppercase magazine issue 17 for RM65 from I Love Snackfood and instantly fell in love with it. My primary interest is in scrapbooking but the wide array of topics in this magazine ranging from general paper craft (pop-ups, steel die, etc), to creative use of colors, to alternative print techniques & textures, to nostalgic inspirations simply excites me. This magazine may well drive creative people into curious mode & onto the path of expanding what they thought they have known all this while (it did for me!) And it is a surprising find for me that Janine (owner of Uppercase) is also a huge typewriter fan. Typewriters rock!

I really love the design & whimsical illustrations on the cover, it even has a scratch & sniff portion! (How creative! And yes - I sniffed the rest of the illustrations on the cover just to be sure that I am not hallucinating, LOL!). The uncoated front & back covers and all the 114 pages that are contained within feel unlike any other magazines, together with its well-proportioned layouts page after page, it is just so inviting & engaging that I had to flip on & read till the end.

Being an enthusiast of paper craft, I feel that the range of print styles brought forward by the editors are breathtaking & have helped me expand my creative horizon. There's like something for everyone, from the simple & down-to-earth to the artistic paint brush warriors. These range of styles are particularly highlighted in the section that I am most impressed about - the 'Stationary Guide' section, as 50 creative individuals (I love how they are called 'industry pros') share their styles & approaches to designing. As if that is not enough, these pros also shared tips on various aspects, including how to make it in the creative business & how to deal with people in the industry. Nicely written, very contemporary & practical. I'm pretty sure I benefited most from this section. And oh, on the side, I'm also very impressed about how the editors managed to weave in non-mainstream art, such as twisted balloons & glass-blowing into the flow, truly opened my eyes to appreciate the endless possibilities in art.

I believe this magazine would be a huge inspiration for all aspiring card-makers & scrapbookers out there, it has so much to offer in boosting my creative mojo on working & styling with paper, and I'm sure it can do just the same for other like-minded enthusiasts. Thank you Uppercase for this wonderful work on paper, there's truly no electronic medium that can replicate the tactile joy of beautiful uncoated paper & the cards & scrapbook pages we make out of them. I'm looking forward to future issues & I'd recommend this magazine to all of my creative friends, the playful, the perfectionists, and beyond! 5 stars for you Uppercase! Of course, thank you I Love Snackfood for bringing in this delightful magazine for the creative enthuasist :)

Happy Scrappy Mail - SATW

Since Katelynn is born, I didn't intend to apply for any design team simply because I wanted to give all my attention to her. She is all I ever wanted in my life. Early April, Helen Tilbury sent me a FB private message and asked me if I would like to join her team called "Scrapbook Around The World" and contribute one layout a month. I immediately said YES without thinking much because I really love scrapbooking and would love to cherish all the precious photos by scrapping them. It is indeed an honor to be part of this amazing team with so many talented scrappers!

It is pretty simple to join the challenge. Let me briefly share with you....

All you need to do is be inspired by the mood board (in ANY way)
& use our sketch as your starting point.

How to use our sketches

As you would any other sketch.  We would like to see that it definitely inspired you & was your 'starting point' but you can 'make it your own' by flipping it, turning it, inverting it & moving things about if you like.  You can also change the photo orientation and number of photos to be as few or as many as you like.

**** the above image MUST appear on the blog post containing your challenge entry please****

You also need to mention that you are playing along with the current challenge at Scrap Around The World & link up to it please :)

How to use our mood boards

Our mood boards are for your INSPIRATION only.  You can be inspired by one of the images, all of the images, or any number of them, or even parts thereof. For example, on this board you may be inspired by the colours (either all of them or just one, two or more) but you do not have to use any colours on the board if you don't want to.  Other aspects of the mood board that could inspire you are, for example, the beads, circles, fringing, cracks, texture, leather, chandeliers, turquoise, rust (colour or rusty elements) ie brass/metal.  Pink, purple, oranic shapers, swirls, feathers, fluff, fibres, distressing, ombre effects, flowers, bows, lace, flower-soft & filigree work (fine cut embellishments such as laser chipboard with detailed designs).
It's entirely up to you!  Be Inspired in any way!!

Here is my take on the moodboard + sketch...

 photo IMG_4547_zps5f60110e.jpg

I was inspired by all the images on the mood board!  The wooden background was inspired by the 1st photo ie. the woods/trees. The table cloth on the 2nd photo inspired the black & white paper I chose. I used  turquoise flowers, mist and stickers in keeping with photo no. 3 & a chandelier image as per photo 4.  My other details were inspired by the awesome sketch!

We have amazing gifts from these sponsors for our first challenge!! Amazing huh?

Thank you for coming by and I hope to see your beautiful entries at SATW soon! Do check out SATW for more deets & all the inspirations by the talented design team members.

Project Life Week 4

Hello again. Yes I know, I am guilty as charged! Promised to show you my PL Week 4 like a month back but it's getting tougher each week. Mummies will have sympathy on me cause they know how crazy. Hehe. Katelynn is getting older now and she wants my attention even more! She totally know that being cuddled to sleep is way better than falling asleep by herself. Lol. I thought about baby sling/carrier to use at home but I didn't quite like the idea, afraid that it will form a habit and furthermore Malaysia is a HOT country. I don't think Katelynn wants to be drenched by my sweat. Eeww.

She is getting cuter & super-cheeky by the day. She loves to chat & I love listening to her cooing all the way! Giggling & smiling are what she enjoys too. Lil feisty girl is getting aware of what her lil mouth can do too. She loves to suck her fist (fingers, sometimes), sticking out her tongue and has licking fetish. She literally want to taste everything. No joke! It is really funny seeing her trying out the stroller seat pad or the sofa or my shoulder. Haha.

So, yesterday I managed to pull week 4 (of course I had to do like ten thousand times of pit-stops to get it done)! I am enjoying the mummy's duty but it can be overwhelming when she is so sticky & clingy. But above all, still happy that I can slowly take time out to document her life weekly. She better be appreciative with all these 'hardwork' mummy did for her! :P

Before I bid farewell, here's a happy-cheeky pic of Katelynn at week 10.

Psst... I have started Week 5 today! Whee!
Till then, my sweet friends :) Have a lovely weekend.

I scrapped!

It felt so good to be able to scrap again! I didn't get to print photos for my Project Life due to the limited time factor and of course Ms Katelynn can't live her mama alone! Lol. But I had some photos lying around so thought maybe I should scrap a layout for a change. I got all geared up to do so because I managed to purchase Maggie Holmes' Crate Paper collection. Thanks to my dearest friend, June Goh. She helped me to buy them at her LSS in Singapore and mailed them all the way to me. I just love scrapbooking friends, they are soooo kind!

I only have the stickers, 6x6 paper pad and paper embellies on hand. I wish I had more to play with but I am happy with what I have & created. Simply because I didn't only created one layout ... but two! I kept them simple because time is always a factor. Lol.

Here are some photos I snapped of Katelynn this morning. She is always in her greatest mood after a good bathing time!

So yeah those are my two layouts that I managed to scrap and I wish I will get to scrap more often in the near future. As always, I will try to attempt Project Life spreads soon! Will share them once done. Thanks for coming by. Have a great week ahead :)

Project Life Week 3

Hello there! It's time to show you what I have created for my Project Life Week 3. To be honest, I am still catching up with Project Life. I'm supposed to be on week 5 but time is just not enough at my end these days. Lol. Crafting with a lil baby as young as 6 weeks old is not an easy task. Simply because of the many pit stops & mummy duty in between BUT I am enjoying every second of it. Early of this year, I am determined to create these special memories for Katelynn so she can look back at them someday and giggle about it. I am sure every child is curious how they looked like or what they have done at such young age. Glad that I am still on the same track :)

This is my 3rd attempt creating with Project Life and along the way I have came out with my own 'creating recipe'. Firstly, I will save the photos according to the weeks into my iPhone (my photos are snapped & edited purely with iPhone), print them out using my old faithful Canon Selphy ES20, arrange the photos into the sleeves, match them with the PL cards and lastly embellish/decorate each cards. If you have noticed, I used alot of design cuts that I cut them with Silhouette Cameo. They save me tons of time especially with Katelynn being so clingy at this very moment. Of course washi tapes play a huge part on my design too.  Overall, I felt that photos and journalling actually play the most important part in Project Life, therefore I am focussing on these elements. Everyone has their own ways with Project Life but that's how I roll!

Katelynn has to lie down next to me in order to feel my presence. Yup, even when I am having my lunch! Lol. She is one sticky girl and I loved it! We have been waiting for this lil miracle for the longest time. Thank God for her!

Hope you enjoyed my Project Life Week 3 and do come back for Week 4. I will have to start them soon, just wanna make sure that I keep myself into the PL momentum. Thanks for coming by. And thank God it's Friday!
